About Narsimha Puran

श्री नरसिंह पुराण महर्षि वेदव्यास द्वारा रचित यह भारतीय ग्रंथ समूह पुराण से जुड़ा है, यह एक उपपुराण है। आर° सी° हाज़रा के शोध के अनुसार यह 5वी शताब्दी के बाद के हिस्से में लिखा गया था तथा इसका तेलुगू संस्करण 1300 ई° के बाद का है।

विषय वस्तु
इसके पुस्तक.. संस्करण में 68 अध्याय तथा 3,464 श्लोक हैं, 8वां अध्याय यम गीता के तीन संस्करणों में से एक है। अध्याय 36 से 54 तक भगवान विष्णु के 10 अवतारों का विस्तारपूर्वक वर्णन है। 21वें और 22वें अध्याय में सूर्यवंश तथा सोम वंश का वर्णन है इनके अंत में महाराज शुद्धोदन के पुत्र भगवान गौतम बुद्ध तथा क्षेमक का वर्णन है। 41 से 44 अध्याय तक नरसिंहावतार कथा, 47 से 52 तक राम कथा और 53 वे अध्याय में भगवान कृष्ण की कथा सारगर्भित है। अध्याय 57 से 61 तक स्वतंत्र लेख हैं जिसे हरित संहिता अथवा लघुहरित स्मृति कहते हैं.
